Windows 7 - Which Version Has What?

Today Microsoft announced Windows 7 will be shipping in six different versions. The specifications of the versions are as follows:

Windows 7 Starter:

Does not have:
- Aero enhancements
- the ability to run more than three simultaneous applications

Available:
- “emerging markets”
- OEM specific, hardware specific

Windows 7 Home Basic:

Does not have:
- Aero enhancements
- Live thumbnail previews

Available:
- “emerging markets”

Windows 7 Home Premium:

Has:
- Multi-touch capabilities
- Aero enhancements
- Homegroups
- Premium games
- Media capabilities (media center, burning DVD’s)

Available:
- Worldwide, OEM’s and retail

Windows 7 Professional:

Has:
- All “Premium” capabilities
- Enhanced networking capabilities (remote desktop host, etc.)
- Mobility Center
- Presentation mode

Available:
- Worldwide, OEM’s and retail

Windows 7 Enterprise:

Has:
- All “Professional” capabilities
- Branch Cache
- Direct Access
- BitLocker

Available:
- In volume licences

Windows 7 Ultimate:

Has:
- All capabilities

Available:
- Limited, OEM’s and retail
